Micah 2026 Projects

The Micah Fund is a way for people at Ps & Gs to give to charities and projects outside our church and beyond our usual partner organisations.

The Micah Fund supports projects in the UK which fall under one of the four areas of changing lives, transforming society, deepening influence and church planting, which are in line with Ps & Gs strategy. It also includes donations to Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) appeals, ordinands who have been part of Ps & Gs, and short-term missions.

The charities we are supporting this year are:

Abernethy Trust with Home for Good

£4,340

Abernethy Trust transforms lives through outdoor experiences in Scotland that inspire, challenge and equip. Home for Good aims to find a loving home for every child in need by supporting foster carers and adopters.

Abernethy's experienced team delivers retreats, holidays and school residentials that impact over 7,000 people a year. Through community, hospitality and Christian witness, they create belonging, nurture wellbeing and provoke curiosity. For this project, they are partnering with Home for Good to host a weekend break for around 10 families. The weekend will help to create connection between rurally-based foster and adoptive families from around Scotland, reducing isolation, growing the children's resilidence and confidence, and offering opportunities to encounter God.

The Micah Fund donation will subsidise the cost of the weekend for 40 people, and cover speaker expenses. A portion will contribute to a bursary fund for families who are unable to pay.

Ferrywell Youth Project

£7,000

Ferrywell Youth Project works with young people aged 10-18 in Muirhouse, Pilton and Drylaw, some of the most economically deprived areas of Edinburgh.

The teenagers that Ferrywell supports often live in families experiencing financial poverty, addiction, mental health issues, abuse and unemployment. Many struggle to attend school. Ferrywell offers a safe space and positive relationships with trusted adults for around 200 young people, changing lives and helping the young people make positive, responsible choices. But only a third are girls, and Ferrywell wants to be able to offer additional, tailored support to this group.

The Micah Fund donation will pay for 50% of a new part-time worker, for 2 years, to focus on supporting teenage girls and their needs.

Granton Community Gardeners

£5,000

Granton Community Gardeners (GCG) supports a network of local Granton residents who create and manage community gardens, as well as hosting gardening and cooking clubs, community meals and running a bakery.

Eating with other people, especially people who are different to you, is a powerful and profound thing to do. GCG has run a free weekly community lunch for several years, hosting a diverse group of over 60 diners and seeing how trust, respect, care and a sense of belonging has developed. GCG wants to grow the number of meals it can offer, in a new venue.

The Micah Fund donation will pay for one staff member, working one day a week, to deliver an expanded programme of community meals and events.

Home-Start Edinburgh

£7,500

Home-Start Edinburgh supports vulnerable and isolated parents of young children. It's the largest volunteer-led early-years service in Edinburgh, with over 35 years' experience delivering life-changing programmes.

Families affected by social isolation, poverty and other challenges including mental health issues and disabilities need layers of support to help them through their children's early years. As well as its popular group sessions, Home-Start offers 1-to-1 support from a home-visiting volunteer or paid worker, helping to gradually build parents' confidence and self-esteem in a tailored, personal way.

The Micah Fund donation will fund 50% of the cost of recruiting, training and supporting 80-100 volunteers, for one year.

Connect Leith working with Junction 42

£5,000

Junction 42 and the Connect Network support prisoners, their families and communities to be transformed by the hope of the Gospel. Connect Leith is one of nine Connect communities which welcomes offenders with worship, food and fellowship.

Connect Leith was launched in August 2025 and is led by Liz and John; John has lived experience of the prison system. Around 40 people attend their weekly Tuesday service, many of whom have had direct or indirect experience of prison and are often facing mental health challenges, isolation, addiction, homelessness and relationship breakdown. Connect Leith wants to establish a weekly Bible study group and fund other activities to strengthen their growing community.

The Micah Fund donation will cover venue hire for the weekly service and new Bible study group, as well as fund social activities and conference attendance.
